BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP IN THE BCAADA
COLOR BROCHURE - Distribution is 35,000 a year to tourist outlets and member shops. The brochure is an attractive four-color pictorial and informative way of advertising our members. There is a user-friendly map and quick reference guide by category on the inside front cover.
WEBSITE - The entire brochure is on the web with links to individual shops. Members are encouraged to post newsworthy events on our web page, which is updated monthly, such as art openings, auctions, Ebay links, new shipments, etc.
ADVERTISING / PROMOTION - BCAADA places display and classified ads in major northeast publications such as Maine Antique Digest, Antiques And The Arts Weekly, Berkshire Living, Passport ( a quarterly Publication from the Litchfield County Times)and various local cultural programs. In 2001 and 2002 brochures were mailed to all 3,000 ASID members in the northeast, and an equal number of direct mail inquiries. Members who participate in major shows distribute brochures at them; also Canyon Ranch and Chamber of Commerce booths receive regular deliveries of brochures.
LINKS TO THE BERKSHIRE VISITOR'S BUREAU - BCAADA is a member of The Berkshire Visitor's Bureau and is listed in their four-color Berkshires Official Visitors Guide and on their website www.berkshires.org. The Berkshire Visitor's Bureau distributes 200,000 guides annually with over 100,000 individually requested and mailed to visitors. Any inquiry requesting antiquing information also receives a BCAADA brochure. The Bureaus website www.berkshires.org receives approximately 8 million hits a year and BCAADA's listing includes a link the associations website. BCAADA's brochure is also iavailable at the Bureau's two visitor centers which service approximatly 40,000 visitors each year.

CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP
For Antique Dealers: To be eligible, 80% of the inventory of a dealer or antiques center or group shop must consist of items at least fifty years old unless The Executive Board approves membership by a three-quarters vote. A typical exception to the rule would be a dealer or antiques center or group shop specializing in a particular design period(s) that would be considered highly collectible by the general public. In no case shall an applicant be approved if his or her inventory consists of more than 50% of items less than 30 years old.
For Art/Sculpture Galleries: To be eligible, at least 80% of the inventory must be original art or part of an original limited edition or series. In no case can a gallery's inventory consist of more than 20% of works that are reproductions or crafts of a mass produced nature.
